Homecoming finds friends Dwight, Tommy, J.R, and Phillip together a few years after their departure from school…
Phillip, the self proclaimed prettyboy of the bunch works in advertising. His high profile job not only affords him a chance to experience some of the finer things life has to offer, but it also gives him many opportunities to practice his favorite game: the manipulation of women, including his long-time girlfriend and college sweetheart, Vanessa. This weekend awakens Phillip to life’s invaluable amenities, as he struggles to mask his insecurities and falls victim to his own indiscretions.
Tommy was always a voice of reason, but his competitive nature could, at times, ignite his temper. Now, he finds himself an elementary school teacher juggling the thought of marriage. Though very much in love, he does not feel that he would make a good husband and father because he was raised in an abusive home.
J.R. is a former college football player and the son of a retired, murdered professional football player. He surprised many when he retired his helmet and jersey and pursued law instead of following his father. He returned home to Maryland continue his studies and practice in Washington D.C. As a budding attorney, he is working on a very important case that confronts him with evidence that drugs and dirty politics may played a role in his father’s unsolved murder, Sensing J.R’s heavy mind, Dwight persuades him to attend and put his case, research, and worries on hold. However, the answers to his most important questions seem to find him, and he learns a truth that will forever change him.
Dwight is the only member of the crew that didn’t leave Atlanta. He put his college career on hold when his girlfriend became pregnant. In the years that passed, he worked various low paying jobs to provide while his girlfriend worked part time and completed her degree. The foundation he called his family is broken when the mother of his son informs him the boy that he sacrificed to support is not his.
A tale of strength, fear, and love delicately unfolds as a return to their alma mater results in an education that earns these men a degree in life, and in themselves.
